You hear Sunny Sweeney prominently on the radio, both as an artist and show host. in addition to a recording career spanning nearly 20 years, the Nashville-by-way-of-Texas singer/songwriter hosts two SiriusXM radio shows – Sunny Side Up (Willie’s Roadhouse) and The Sunny Side of Life (Outlaw Country). On Thursday, June 4, Sweeney will perform at WORKPLAY. Adam Hood opens the 7:30 p.m. all-ages show. Currently, Sweeney is touring in support of her 2025 release, Rhinestone Requiem. “This is the first time I’ve made a record when I don’t have relationship problems,” Sweeney says. “My last album, Married Alone, was made right after my divorce. I’ve lived some life. Not all of it’s been pretty, but I feel like that’s what makes really good music.” She adds, “I really wanted this album to be a mixture of all the old styles of country music: Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lynn. I make music for myself and hope other people like it.” Advance show tickets can be purchased at www.workplay.com.
